# Work overview

> What Work is, how it is organized, and how Agents take part.

Work is where you model your own processes, with no code. You build **Boards**, give them typed **Columns**, and fill them with **Items**. You automate with **Automations**, and you decide what people and Agents may do with **Authority, Gates and Limits**. Everything done is written to an audit log.

## Building blocks

| Block | What it is |
| - | - |
| Workspace | A group of boards inside your organization. |
| Board | A table of Items with typed Columns. Boards can also have views, forms, docs and a dashboard. |
| Item | One row. Its values live in the columns. |
| Automation | A rule: when something happens, do something. |
| Gate | A rule that holds an action until a person approves. |
| Member | A person or an Agent who can act in the workspace. |

## One boundary for every change

Every change, from the app, from an Agent, or from the API, goes through the same path: sign-in, then permission check (authority, gates and limits together), then validation, then audit, then the change. There is no private route for the app and no side door for Agents.

## Inside Worksong

In the Worksong app, Work is a tab. You sign in once. Work is on in the web app and the phone app.
