A company template is a saved copy of a Board’s shape. Anyone in your company can start a new Board from it. Use it when a Board works well and you want the same setup again. This is different from the ready-made Templates that ship with Work. Those come from Worksong. Company templates are yours.

What a template keeps

  • Columns, with their settings
  • Groups and saved views
  • Automations, paused
  • The Board’s dashboards and their widgets
  • Agent roles, with no access

What a template never keeps

  • Items, cell values, comments and files
  • People and their ids
  • Passwords, API keys and other secrets
If a Board holds something that looks like a password or an API key, Work refuses to save it as a template and tells you why. Nothing is saved. A rule is also left out when it points at one specific person or Agent, or when it needs an approval step that a template cannot carry. Work lists every item it left out, before you save and again when you install.

Save a Board as a template

Open the Board’s options and choose Save as template. You need Manage on the Board. Work shows what the template will keep and what it will leave out. Give it a name and, if you like, a description. Names are unique in your company, and a company can hold up to 200 templates.

Start a Board from a template

Open Template gallery from the Boards screen. Open a template to see what it brings, then choose Use this template and name the new Board. Work creates the Board in one step. It appears whole or not at all. When it is done, Work shows what it added. Every automation is paused. Review them, then turn on the ones you want. Agents start with no access. Grant each one only what it needs.

Rename or delete

Open a template in the gallery to rename or delete it. You need Manage on the Board it was saved from. Deleting a template does not change Boards already made from it. Source: worksong-ai/worksong:services/work/docs/board-templates.md@4fb8e70. Docs version: Worksong 2.0 with Work 1.2.
